Program Highlights

Designed for Maximum Flexibility, Engagement, and Retention

The Black Belt Program is designed to be the most accessible pathway into the teaching profession. Trainees can progress self-paced, recognizing that many balance work, family, or community responsibilities while completing the program. Using gamification best practices, learning is both fun and rewarding. As trainees complete teacher training courses and modules, they advance from White Belt to Black Belt, earning badges at each milestone and demonstrating mastery of essential teacher training topics.

Universality and Adaptability of the Blackbelt Program

The program provides universally applicable foundational knowledge while empowering teachers to apply it to their unique classroom contexts. Courses are offered in English and cover key teacher education principles, from foundational pedagogy to advanced teaching strategies. Recognizing the diversity of classroom environments, the program emphasizes contextual adaptation. Trainees join a global community of practice, sharing experiences and insights, fostering a dynamic learning environment. This ensures core principles remain consistent while allowing teachers to tailor their strategies to maximize impact and effectiveness.

Online Delivery That Works With Limited Technology

Long before COVID-19, the program was designed for online delivery, reaching teachers in even the most remote and under-resourced regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa and Pakistan. Modules are accessible on almost any device or internet connection, ensuring access to online teaching certification, teacher training courses online, and other teacher training programs.

The Trainees Become The Trainers

Giving back is a core value and central to professional development. Successful trainees are equipped to mentor others, becoming resource persons and adjunct faculty within 1MT. This provides trainees with paid teaching opportunities, teaching certificate recognition, and peer-to-peer engagement, boosting job satisfaction while strengthening the teacher training community.

Program Completion Unlocks Further Opportunities

Upon completing the Black Belt Program, trainees qualify for immersive boot camps and ongoing teacher training workshops, facilitated in partnership with Queen’s University, Girl Rising, and HP. Graduates gain access to advanced teacher training courses, specialized teachers training topics, and career pathways to expand their impact in Sub-Saharan Africa and Pakistan and beyond.
